Accessibility

We've designed this site to be as accessible as possible. In particular, you can use your keyboard to navigate if you prefer. Here are the most common web browser keyboard controls:

Navigation and Interaction

  • Tab and Shift + Tab: Use Tab to move forward through interactive elements like links, buttons, and form fields. Use Shift + Tab to go backward. This is the primary way to navigate without a mouse.
  • Enter and Spacebar: Use Enter to activate a focused link or button. The Spacebar is also commonly used to activate buttons, check/uncheck checkboxes, or open dropdown menus.
  • Arrow keys (Up/Down/Left/Right): Use these to scroll the page or to navigate within specific components, such as a set of radio buttons, a menu, or a slider.

Page and Content Control

  • Ctrl + - / + / 0 (Windows/Linux) or Cmd + - / + / 0 (Mac): These are for zooming. The + zooms in, the - zooms out, and 0 resets the zoom to the default size. This is essential for people with low vision.
  • Ctrl + L (Windows/Linux) or Cmd + L (Mac): Moves the cursor to the address bar, allowing you to type a new URL or search query.
  • Esc: Closes pop-up windows, dialog boxes, or menus, preventing the user from getting "trapped" in a modal window.
